Achsa

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Achsa ( Hebrew עַכְסָה) is a Bible woman and a daughter of Caleb . She was Otniël's wife .

The importance of the Achsa

Caleb promised it in connection with the conquest of the Israelites (Jos 15,16-19 = Judge 1,12-15) as the bride price for the conquest of an area. Thereupon Otniël conquered the area and became her husband ( Jos 15,16-17  LUT ). Achsa demanded additional water points from her father as a blessing ( Judges 1,12–15  LUT ).
