Actidium coarctatum is a beetle fromthe dwarf beetle family (Ptiliidae).

features

The beetles reach a body length of 0.5 to 0.63 millimeters. Her body is almost dull, colored black. The elongated wings have parallel outer edges and are brown-black in color with yellow-brown translucent tips. These are blunt and broadly rounded. The antennae and legs are colored yellow. The pronotum is hardly narrower than the wing. In contrast to Actidium aterrimum, the upper side is clearly dotted and finely haired.

Occurrence and way of life

The species is halobiont and occurs on the coasts of the Atlantic and the Mediterranean . The distribution ranges from Ireland and England via France, Spain and Morocco to Greece and Egypt. They are also found on the coasts of the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark and Sweden.
