The actiniidae are approximately 200 species, the most species-rich family of sea anemones (Actiniaria) within the flower animals (Anthozoa). They include all living in European coastal waters sea anemones, as the wax Rose ( Anemonia sulcata ) and the Beadlet Anemone ( Actinia equina ), and two species of tropical symbiosis anemones .
features
The columnar body is smooth or covered with warts or vesicles. The tentacles arranged in alternating circles are simple and always unbranched.
There are at least six, but usually more than six, the Gastralraum aufteilende Mesenterienpaare . In the case of the mesenteries, macro (complete mesenteries) and microcnemes (incomplete mesenteries) cannot be distinguished. One tentacle is associated with each space between the mesenteries. Sphincter muscle and basilar muscle are present.
Genera
The latest literature contains contradicting information about the number of valid genera. While Estefania Rodríguez, Marymegan Daly and Daphne G. Fautin (in Daly et al., 2007) assume 44 associated genera, Daphne G. Fautin lists 55 genera in her database "Hexacorallians of the World".
