The Active Reef is an isolated rocky reef in the Firth of Tay just north of the coast of Dundee Island at the tip of the Antarctic Peninsula .
It was discovered by Thomas Robertson, skipper of the eponymous whaler Active on the Dundee Whaling Expedition (1892-1893). The ship hit the reef on January 10, 1893 during a storm.
