Acumen Nation is an active since the late 1980s American alternative metal - / industrial metal - band from Chicago , Illinois .

Band history

The group initially began under the name Acumen , but had to choose something else after a name dispute with a band of the same name that was played in court. Nation was unceremoniously attached, and the final band name was found. The first album, Transmissions From Eville , was released in 1994 shortly after the release of a demo record of the same name . This was followed by the albums Territory = Universe (1996), More Human Heart (1997), in 1998 a remastered re-release of Transmissions From Eville , The 5th Column (2002), Lord of the Cynics (2003), Anticore (2006) and 2007 so far last album, Psycho the Rapist . The various releases were accompanied by some line-up changes. The two Acumen Nation band members Jason Novak and Jamie Duffy also founded a joint side project in 1998, DJ? Acucrack , which focuses heavily on drum and bass . Acumen Nation toured with bands like Front Line Assembly , among others .

On June 22, 2012, it was announced that Jamie Duffy had committed suicide.

style

The band mixes elements from alternative metal with those of electronic music , such as breakbeat / drum and bass, as well as industrial rock / industrial metal .
