Adam Brand

Adam Brand (* before 1692 in Lübeck ; † 1746 ) was a German businessman and explorer .

Life

Brand made several trade trips to Moscow . In 1692 he traveled to China from Moscow with Eberhard Isbrand Ides and others . This trip served both commercial purposes and as a political delegation. In 1697 he was appointed Prussian Court and Commerce Councilor. Brand was planned as the Prussian envoy to Persia , but the trip was not carried out after the death of King Frederick I in 1713. He then lived in Königsberg . His description of the Chinese journey first appeared in Frankfurt in 1697, saw several editions and was translated into Dutch, French and English.
