Adam Wilhelm Klein

Adam Wilhelm Klein (* May 12, 1922 ; † December 12, 2015 ) was a German insurance salesman , chairman of Gothaer and honorary professor at the Technical University of Cologne .

Live and act

Klein came from a modest family background. He began an apprenticeship at Gothaer in 1938 and continued to work there after completing his training. In 1960 he was appointed to the board of directors and in 1970 its chairman, later chairman of the supervisory board and finally its honorary chairman in 1997. In addition, he was represented on the boards of directors and supervisory boards of insurance companies belonging to the Gothaer Group and other companies, mostly as chairman and later as honorary chairman.

He has been associated with it since the establishment of the Cologne University of Applied Sciences in 1971 (later TH), and on his initiative the insurance department came into being , where he acted as a lecturer. In 1982 the university appointed him honorary professor. He was a co-founder of the board of trustees , head of the friends 'association for the insurance department and the friends' association for the restoration department. He supported the university in setting up an institute for management and law at the University of Nizhny Novgorod and was also involved in teaching there and on the board of trustees, which is why he was awarded an honorary doctorate .

In 1982, with the support of his insurance companies, he founded the Adam Wilhelm Klein Foundation , which promotes students with interest-free loans - also for study abroad - prizes and the international cooperation of the university.

He was involved in the Cologne Carnival , especially with the Great Cologne Carnival Society and their Foolish Consulate , where he made a special contribution to youth work.
