Nick Vannett (* 6. March 1993 in Westerville , Ohio ) is an American American football player at the position of the tight ends . He played college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes . In the 2016 NFL Draft , he was selected in the third round by the Seattle Seahawks . Vannett has been with the Pittsburgh Steelers since the 2019 season .
High school
Vannett went to Westerville Central High School and played football and basketball there . As a tight end, he caught 47 passes for 606 yards and eight touchdowns as a senior .
college
Vannett attended Ohio State University from 2011 to 2015 , where he played football for the Buckeyes . After suspending the 2011 season, he was used in all games in 2012, catching nine passes for 123 yards. His working hours increased steadily in the years to come, especially since he was also used in the special teams . He was mainly used as a blocker and came to college with a total of 55 passes for 585 yards and six touchdowns.
NFL
Prior to the 2016 NFL Draft , it was rated the best available tight end by ESPN 's draft expert Todd McShay. Vannett was selected 94th by the Seattle Seahawks in the third round of the draft . On September 24, 2019, he was transferred to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a five-round pick (2020) .
