Addaru II

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Addaru II (also ŠE II or dirig ) was derived in the Babylonian lunar and normal calendar from the Akkadian name of the month Addaru , which acted as the namesake for this leap month . The year that included the leap month Addaru II (XII 2 ) had the additional designation "DIR".

Since, according to the Babylonian sources, the month Tašritu was either the first new light or the first full moon of autumn , the leap month Addaru usually began between March 3rd and March 22nd .
