In agriculture , he marked usually at the same time the last month a half before the month Tašritu according to the entries on the cuneiform tablets of mul.apin the second Akitufest the year with the celebration of the annual first fruits was started.

Since according to the Babylonian sources either the first new light or the first full moon of spring fell in the month of Nisannu , the month of Ululu, based on the dating of the beginning of the year of the month of Nisannu, began on August 2 at the earliest , if the leap month Ululu II was proclaimed; otherwise on August 12th at the earliest and September 14th at the latest . The consequence of this system was that in the following month Tašritu either the first new light or the first full moon of autumn fell.
