Adel Mohsin

Adel Ferenc Mohsin (* 1994 in Gengenbach ) is a German musician . He works internationally as a pianist .

Life

Adel Mohsin was born in Gengenbach ( Baden-Württemberg ) in 1994 . His mother is from Bulgaria , his father from Iraq . Both are doctors and have German citizenship . From the age of four he lived in Lahr . From 2002 to 2004 he attended the Free Evangelical Primary School in Lahr and then switched to the Max Planck Gymnasium. Since 2007 he has been a young student at the University of Music Karlsruhe in the piano class for gifted students of the professor and musician Sontraud Speidel . He studied human medicine from 2013, but dropped out and is now studying mathematics at Heidelberg University . In addition to his mother tongue German, he is fluent in English, French, Spanish and Bulgarian.

In 2011, at the age of 17, Mohsin was appointed cultural ambassador for the city of Lahr.

In February 2013 Mohsin was accepted into the scientific advisory board of the Giordano Bruno Foundation (gbs).

Awards

Mohsin has been awarded over 40 first prizes in national and international competitions for his musical achievements, including in 2008 the 1st prize of the Federal Youth Music Competition , the prize of the German Music Council and a special prize from the Musikleben Foundation, the 1st prize of the Schumann Competition Zwickau , the Yehudi Menuhin and Robert Schumann Society Prize. In 2009 he received 1st prize at the International Alexander Scriabin Piano Competition in Paris. He is also the recipient of the Steinway, Yamaha and Tchaikovsky Awards. He has been awarded the City of Lahr's Golden Music Medal several times .
