Life

Adelheid Hanselmann-Erne was born on September 13, 1946 in Schönenwerd. After attending the preliminary course at the Kunstgewerbeschule Basel, she learned her dream job as a goldsmith . After completing her apprenticeship, she continued her education in three-dimensional design under Alfred Gruber , René Küng and Johannes Burla at the Basel School of Applied Arts. 1970–1978 she worked as a goldsmith and artist in Olten . In 1978 she moved to Zurich, where she taught as a lecturer at the School of Applied Arts (later renamed “Hochschule für Gestaltung” or “ Zürcher Hochschule der Künste ”). The teaching activity lasted until 2006. Adelheid Hanselmann-Erne began to paint while studying in the atelier of the canton of Zurich in the Cité Internationale des Arts Paris in 1981/1982. From 2002–2009 she completed an apprenticeship as a psychological consultant and painting director at the Alfred Adler Institute in Zurich. Lived in Olten from 2001 to 2016, now in Almens GR.

Until the mid-1990s, Adelheid Hanselmann-Erne worked both as a goldsmith and as a freelance artist. The goldsmith's work, like her pictures and sculptures, is characterized by an extraordinary wealth of imagination, which assumes precise form with perfect craftsmanship. The artist's sensitive, highly differentiated color perception is also valued by architects, who she often consults for color advice and design. Since 1980 she has created over thirty two and three-dimensional artistic contributions for public and semi-public buildings.

“The artist is a tireless creator who loves the silence of her studio, listens inward and at the same time allows herself to be inspired from outside, who seeks and finds new ways. There is hardly a material that is not of interest to them. Even found objects, unintentionally collected, acquire a new meaning and a very specific function in an object or a pictorial space ».

architectural art

Adelheid Hanselmann-Erne has created art contributions for historical and new buildings that are characterized by a high degree of empathy for the architecture and at the same time respect the viewer without wanting to ingratiate themselves with them.
