The stay, which was originally supposed to last six weeks, finally grew to 10 years. Genée celebrated successes in England, the USA and Australia.

After her active career, she became a ballet teacher and (1920) co-founder and first president of the Association of Teachers of Operatic Dancing of Great Britain (later renamed the Royal Academy of Dancing, today: Royal Academy of Dance ). She died in the London suburb of Esher at the age of 92 .

The international ballet competition for young dancers, which has been organized by the Royal Academy of Dance since 1931, is named after her: Geneé International Ballet Competition .
