Live and act

After graduating from the University of Damascus in 1981 with a bachelor's degree and two diplomas in applied macroeconomics and banking and monetary theory from the University of Aix-Marseille in Aix-en-Provence in the mid-1980s, he received a doctorate in international economic relations from the University of Aix- Marseille doctorate.

After working at various Syrian universities, Mayaleh was appointed Governor of the Banque Centrale de Syrie on April 1, 2005 .

Mayaleh is one of those people in the Syrian leadership around Bashar al-Assad who were sanctioned by the European Union during the civil war in Syria , including an entry ban and property confiscation. In his case, this was justified by his important role in financing the Syrian regime. He defended himself, however, unsuccessfully with complaints to the European Court of Justice , which rejected his complaint on November 5, 2014 as unfounded.
