Adityapur is a city in the Indian state of Jharkhand . The city is part of the Jamshedpur agglomeration , from which it is separated by the Kharkai River .

The city is part of the Seraikela Kharsawan district . Adityapur is managed as a municipal corporation . The city is divided into 32 wards (constituencies). Adityapur is an industrial city.

Demographics

The city's population is 174,355 according to the 2011 census. Those of the Jamshedpur metropolitan area at 1,339,438. Adityapur has a gender ratio of 902 women per 1000 men and thus a male surplus typical for India. The literacy rate was 81.9% in 2011. Almost 89% of the population are Hindus , approx. 2% are Muslims , approx. 1% are Christians and approx. 8% belong to another or no religion. 13.8% of the population are children under 6 years of age.
