The Administrateur Supérieur or Prefect of Wallis and Futuna is the representative of the French President and the French state itself in the French overseas territory of Wallis and Futuna. The authority is based in Mata-Utu in Valais , while a subordinate representative of the Administrateur Supérieurs resides in Futuna with the rank of sub-prefect . The current incumbent has been Jean-Francis Treffel since 2017 .
It is proposed by the French interior minister together with the prime minister and requires the signature of the overseas minister, the prime minister and the president represented by the administrateur supérieur. A decree is drawn up and signed for the establishment .
Administration Supérieure
The Administrateur Supérieur is the chief administrative officer of the overseas territory and heads the Administration Supérieure, which is therefore the highest administrative authority and official seat of the Administrateur Supérieur. It is thus equal to the prefecture of a department in metropolitan France. Two private secretaries work as an assistant to the Administrateur Supérieurs in the Administration Supérieure.
