Admiral Benelux
Admiral BeNeLux ( ABNL ) is the designation, not the military rank, of the commander of the joint naval command of the Royal Netherlands Navy and the naval component van Defensie in Den Helder . The contribution of Luxembourg (see Benelux ) to the fleet command is only of a financial nature.
The 1975 Admiral BeNeLux agreement provided for a joint naval command for Belgium and the Netherlands in times of war. On March 28, 1995, an agreement was signed between Belgium and the Netherlands, which provided for a joint naval command between the two countries even in peacetime. The joint fleet command has existed since January 1, 1996. The Admiral BeNeLux has always been provided by the Netherlands.
