The naval component is the naval force of the armed forces of the Kingdom of Belgium .

Cooperation with other navies

The Belgian Navy traditionally works closely with the Dutch Navy . In 1965, the two navies founded the mine school EGUERMIN, in which other NATO marines are trained in mine defense as part of the MOST program and which NATO has been running as COE since 2006 .

In 1975 the Netherlands and Belgium agreed to set up a joint naval command, but this was not completed until 1996 with the creation of the Admiral Benelux .

bases

The Belgian Navy has bases in Zeebrugge , Ostend and Antwerp . Until 1960, the Belgian Navy maintained a base in Banana, West Africa .

The naval aviators in Koksijde are subordinate to the Air Force .
