Adolf Abicht

Adolf Abicht (* 1793 in Erlangen ; † August 3, 1860 in Vilnius , Vilnius Governorate , Russian Empire ) was a doctor and professor of medicine who worked in Vilnius.

Life

As a little boy, Adolf Albicht came to Wilna with his father Johann Heinrich Abicht , to whose faculty of philosophy his father had been appointed. After finishing his high school education , he studied natural sciences , classical philology and finally medicine . In 1816 he received a doctorate in medicine and was sent to St. John's in Samogitia , where he managed the hospital there , which was dependent on the University of Vilnius .

After a few research trips to France and Germany , he worked from 1823 in Wilna as an assistant to Professor Wincenty Herberski . In 1825 he was appointed as an adjunct in the Faculty of General Pathology . In 1827 he went to the Medical and Surgical Academy as a professor, where he gave lectures on pathology, therapy and the history of medicine . After the academy was dissolved, he remained in Vilna as a practicing doctor.

He died on August 3, 1860.
