Adolf Betz

Adolf Betz (born May 11, 1897 in Pirmasens ; † August 9, 1970 there ) was a German politician ( KPD ). From 1927 to 1929 he was a member of the Central Committee of the KPD.

Life

The employee Betz joined the USPD in 1918 and was one of the founders of the KPD local group in Pirmasens in 1920. From 1921 he was local chairman and member of the KPD's Palatinate district leadership . Betz belonged with the majority of the Palatinate district leadership to the ultra left, then to the Weddinger opposition. In September 1926 he was one of the signatories of the "Letter of the 700". On the XI. At the KPD party congress in Essen (March 2–7, 1927), Betz was elected to the Political Commission and the Central Committee as the Palatine representative of the Weddinger opposition . However, he already separated at the ZK conference on 8/9. December 1927 officially by the Weddinger opposition and passed to the Thälmann majority. The XII. At the KPD party conference in Berlin-Wedding (June 9-12, 1929), Betz was no longer elected to the Central Committee. From 1929 he was employed by the “New German Publishing House” in Essen. He was released in 1933 and was in " protective custody " in Duisburg between February and November 1933 . Subsequently unemployed he worked as a shoe retailer in Essen from 1935, and from 1940 as an employee at Krupp in Essen.

In October 1945 he returned to Pirmasens, where he became the head of the assessing authority at the city administration. He was district chairman of the KPD, member of the district leadership Palatinate as well as the closer state leadership of the KP Hesse-Palatinate. From 1946 to 1948 he was a member of the city council and district council and in 1946/47 at the same time third mayor of the city of Pirmasens and a member of the advisory state assembly of Rhineland-Palatinate and finally from 1947 to 1951 a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament . In the state parliament he was a member of the Refugee Committee / Aid Committee for Immigrants, Main Committee, Budget and Finance Committee, Social Policy Committee / Social Policy and Refugee Issues. From 1947 he was also a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state management of the KPD as well as a license holder and shareholder of the newspaper “Neues Leben” in Ludwigshafen am Rhein . In 1949 the state parliament elected Betz as a member of the first federal assembly . From 1950 he was a member of the Palatinate District Assembly and secretary there .
