Adolf Groth
Adolf Groth (born February 28, 1855 in Schwerin , † May 15, 1934 in Berlin ) was a German teacher , writer and translator .
Life
Adolf Groth studied philology at the universities of Göttingen, Rostock , Leipzig and Strasbourg, where he finally received his doctorate in 1878 . In 1879 he began his school career as a teacher training candidate in Strasbourg.
In 1880 Groth was appointed to the Imperial University of Tokyo as the successor to Rudolf Lange . He took over the German lessons at the preschool of the medical faculty . Two years later he was appointed professor of German literature at the Faculty of Literature . In 1886 Groth returned to Germany and became a high school professor at the Royal Luisen High School in Moabit , Berlin .
Adolf Groth published his first work with reference to Japan with the title Unfinished Thoughts in 1910. In addition to specially written writings, Groth also worked several times as a translator, especially of Japanese fairy tales .
Adolf Groth died in 1934 and was buried in the Evangelical Churchyard in Nikolassee .
