Adolf Gustav Döring

Adolf Gustav Döring (born February 6, 1864 in Berlin , † December 30, 1938 in Barth ) was a German painter.

Life

Adolf Gustav Döring studied at the Academy of Arts in Berlin . Here Carl Gustaf Hellqvist , Paul Meyerheim and Hans Meyer were among his teachers. From 1888 his work was shown at the great Berlin academy exhibitions. He made trips to Africa, India and America. In 1896 he married Dorothea Douzette, the daughter of the painter Louis Douzette , and moved to Barth. The couple lived temporarily in the Villa Douzette . Döring processed the motifs collected on his travels there. A popular subject of his work was the coastal landscape on the Darß and the Zingst peninsula . He worked with his father-in-law; from his paintings he created etchings. Adolf Gustav Döring was a member of the Berlin Artists' Association from 1889 until his death .
