Adolf Gutmann (musician)
Adolf Wilhelm Gutmann (born January 12, 1819 in Heidelberg , † October 22, 1882 in La Spezia ) was a German pianist and composer .
Life
Adolf Gutmann probably met Robert Schumann in Heidelberg, who studied in Heidelberg in 1829/30 and lived only a few houses away from Gutmann. In 1834 Gutmann went to Paris at the age of 15 and became a student of Frédéric Chopin .
Chopin dedicated Scherzo No. 3 in C sharp minor, Op. 39, published in 1839 to Gutmann . He also worked as a copyist of his works.
Two letters that Chopin wrote to Gutmann on May 6, 1848 from London and on October 16, 1848 from Calder House near Edinburgh , bear witness to a very close and intimate relationship between the two artists.
