August Adolf Hacker (born December 12, 1908 in Neu Weißstein near Waldenburg , Waldenburg district , Silesia , † January 14, 1956 in Torgau ) was a German sculptor and industrial designer.

Life

Adolf Hacker attended the Waldenburg secondary school from 1914 to 1922. From 1923 to 1926 he was an apprentice modeler in the CA Tielsch porcelain factory in Altwasser near Waldenburg. His training took place at the Waldenburg vocational school. From 1927 to 1929 he completed his studies in Munich at the State School of Applied Arts in Munich (formerly the Royal School of Applied Arts ) in Heinrich Waderé's master class .

Services

From 1932 to 1945 Adolf Hacker was the first modeller for all new items in tableware and ceramics at the stoneware factory Villeroy & Boch in Torgau . At the same time he modeled portraits (plaques) as well as hollow and fired small and large sculptures from clay.

From the end of 1945 until his death in 1956, Adolf Hacker worked as a freelance artist in Torgau. In 1951 he was involved in founding the museum in Torgau together with Karl Herrmann Schmidt, Kurt Markus and Fritz Walther.
