Adolf Hofrichter

Adolf Hofrichter (born October 14, 1857 in Danzig , † October 14, 1916 in Cologne ) was a German social democratic editor, functionary and politician.

Life

Hofrichter was a locksmith's assistant until 1892. He joined the Social Democratic Party in 1881 . At the beginning of the 1890s he was chairman of the SPD in Cologne. From January 1892 to February 1894 Hofrichter was managing director and after the end of the socialist laws he was editor, publisher, journalist and acquirer of the Rheinische Zeitung, a successor to the Kölner Arbeiter Zeitung, until 1912 . Then he was chairman of the press commission.

Between 1897 and 1901 Hofrichter was chairman of the agitation commission for the upper Rhine province . After that he was workers secretary in Cologne until 1905 . Subsequently until his death (1916) he was district party secretary of the upper Rhine province. He was also the SPD chairman in Cologne and a member of the district executive for the Upper Rhine Province. At times he was also chairman of this body. Since 1892 he has run for the Reichstag in vain in numerous constituencies . He was a member of parliament from 1912 until his death.
