Adolf Tommaso Insam (born August 4, 1951 in Selva di Val Gardena ) is a former Italian ice hockey player and current coach who played for HC Gherdëina in the A1 series during his active career from 1969 to 1984 . His son Marco is also a professional ice hockey player.

Career

Adolf Insam spent his entire professional career from 1969 to 1984 at HC Gherdëina in the A1 series , with which he won the Italian championship in 1969, 1976, 1980 and 1981. After completing his active career in 1984, the man from Val Gardena began working as an ice hockey coach and from 1986 was part of the gang at HC Wolkenstein in his home town . In 1990 he worked for HC Eppan Pirates before Insam returned to Wolkenstein two years later. During this time he also coached the U18 and U20 junior teams in his home country. From 1991 to 1993 he was behind the gang at HC Gherdëina. Later Insam also worked as an assistant coach of the Italian senior team, which he took over as head coach from 1997 and with this managed to stay in the league in the top division.

The man from Val Gardena had his first engagement in the A1 series as head coach in 1996 at HC Bozen , with whom he won the championship in his debut season. From 2000 the Italian was at the gang at HC Milano Vipers and won the championship five times in a row from 2002 to 2006. In April 2010 he accepted an offer from HC Bozen and became their head coach for the second time after 1996. In December 2012 he replaced his compatriot Massimo Da Rin as head coach at Hockey Milano Rossoblu .

International

Insam took part in numerous world championships with the Italian national team and represented them continuously at all tournaments from 1971 to 1984. He last represented his home country at the 1984 Winter Olympics . After 185 games and 62 goals in the national jersey, he declared his playing career over after this tournament.
