Adolf König (violin maker)

Adolf König (born May 16, 1908 in Zurich ; † 2000 ) was a Swiss violin maker .

Live and act

From 1924 to 1927 Adolf König was a student of August Meinel in Liestal , who trained most of the Swiss violin makers. He then worked in Brussels as an assistant to René Aerts until 1929 . From January 1930 he worked as a self-employed violin maker in Zurich. From 1930 to 1940 he built around 80 instruments, including a quartet with a corresponding double bass for the Swiss National Exhibition of 1939, for which he was honored with a diploma.

From July 1, 1944, Adolf König was head of the then newly opened Swiss violin making school (today: Brienz violin making school ) in Brienz .
