Adolf Lubich Edler von Milovan (born February 4, 1819 in Königgrätz , † May 1, 1901 in Wodnian ) was an Austro-Hungarian Lieutenant General in the Austro-Hungarian Army and landowner in Bohemia.

Life

Lubich comes from an old Bohemian family and grew up as the son of Karl Lubich, the magistrate and criminal councilor of Königgrätz. He spent his youth in Königgrätz where he graduated from high school . He received military training and initially served in the infantry regiment. During his military career, Lubich acted as a corps, army and army group commander. In 1870 he was raised to the nobility with the predicate " Edler von Milovan". After the honorable resignation , Lubich retired to the family estate in Wodnian. His family lived in Russia.

Military activity

Lubich worked in various regiments of the Austro-Hungarian Army in a leading position. I.a. in infantry regiments No. 25 “Baron von Wocher” and No. 19 “Crown Prince Archduke Rudolf”. He fought in the Northern Italian Wars of Freedom in 1848, 1849 under Count Radetzky and Baron von Wocher in Infantry Regiment No. 25 against the Italian Army under Karl Albert I, among others at Pastrengo . He was also involved in the fighting against the Italian crown in Northern Italy in 1859. In 1866 the Italian attempt ( Third Italian War of Independence ) to conquer Veneto militarily ended with a defeat in the Second Battle of Custozza . Lubich was involved in the battle of Custozza in infantry regiment No. 19 "Crown Prince Archduke Rudolf", where the Austrians achieved a happy victory. Lubich was promoted to lieutenant general and raised to the nobility.

On August 18, 1851, Major Lubich married Leopoldine Giresch in Wodnian. The couple had 13 children, including Emil (* 1852), Oskar (* 1853) and Karl (* 1854).

His son Oskar also embarked on a military career and took part in the blockade of Cyprus as commander of the ship of the line HMS Krähe. The son Emil became a town builder in Opava. The son Karl resisted the family's expectations of entering government or military service. He emigrated to Riga and founded a successful beer brewery.
