Life

After graduating from high school at Elberfelder Gymnasium, Schlieper studied chemistry at the TH Dresden and later at the universities of Berlin and Würzburg . After receiving his doctorate in 1887, he went to Scotland and England for two years to do internships there, and from 1889 he joined the family business that his father Adolf Schlieper senior and his grandfather had already run. From 1893 he was a partner in the company and worked as a technical manager for the next few years. After the company was converted into a stock corporation in 1932, he was a member of the board. The company was destroyed in 1943 during World War II. Schlieper did not live to see the reconstruction after the end of the war and bankruptcy in 1962; he died in 1945 in his hometown.
