Guntis Galviņš (born January 25, 1986 in Talsi , Latvian SSR ) is a Latvian ice hockey player who was last under contract with Dinamo Riga from the Continental Hockey League .

Career

Guntis Galviņš began his career at HK Prizma Riga , for whom he played in the East European Hockey League and the Latvian Championship . In 2004 he moved to HK Riga 2000 .

At the beginning of the 2006/07 season he played 39 games for Vsetínská hokejová in the Czech extra league , before returning to HK Riga 2000 in January 2007 and was again Latvian champions with this club. Shortly after the start of the following season, in October 2007, he moved to Hungary to Alba Volán Székesfehérvár . For his new club he played both in the Austrian Erste Bank ice hockey league and at the end of the season in the playoffs of the Hungarian ice hockey league . In these he won the Hungarian championship with his team . After this success he was signed by the management of the new KHL club Dinamo Riga , where he played until 2013 and won the Nadezhda Cup in 2013.

Between January and March 2014 Galviņš AIK Solna from Svenska Hockeyligan was under contract. He was then without a club before he was signed by HC Bozen in September 2014 . For the club from South Tyrol he collected 12 points scorer in 43 EBEL games before he returned to Dinamo Riga in July 2015. There he was under contract until the end of the 2017/18 season and was then without a club.

International

Early on in his career, Galviņš represented his home country in international tournaments. He took part in several U18 and U20 world championships . He managed to move up from Division I to the A World Championship at the U20 World Cup in 2005 with the Latvian junior team.

He has been a permanent member of the Latvian national team since 2005 and has since participated in twelve men's world championships: 2005 , 2006 , 2007 , 2008 , 2009 , 2010 , 2012 , 2014 , 2015 , 2016 , 2017 and 2018 .
