Adolfo Farsari (born February 11, 1841 in Vicenza , Italy; † February 7, 1898 , ibid) was an Italian photographer who worked in Yokohama .

life and work

His motifs included people, landscapes and typical buildings of Japanese architecture . He colored the photos, which were initially monochrome, painstakingly by hand. Farsari had a significant influence on the later development of photography in Japan .
