Adolfo Tejera

Adolfo Tejera (born June 14, 1910 or June 19, 1910 in Molles de Timote , Florida Department , † 1991 (before February 26)) was a Uruguayan politician and journalist.

Adolfo Tejera founded the two Florida-based newspapers La Democracia and Jornadas , of which he also served as director. He was also the editor of the daily La democracia en el mundo and had been a political editor at El Plata since 1940 . He was also active as a writer and wrote the books Perfil del ciudadano, Retrato de un ciudadano, Un problema político, Trece rumbos en la sombra and Abajo se vive mal.

Tejera held a titular mandate as a member of the Cámara de Representantes for the Partido Nacional Independiente (PNI), whose last chairman before reunification he was later, in the 34th legislative period from February 15, 1943 as representative of the Florida department . In the 35th legislative period he held the office of the Sublema Instituciones Democráticas -97 of the PNI, until February 14, 1951, as a representative of the Montevideo department . He represented Montevideo again, but this time as a member of the Partido Nacional (PN), in the 37th electoral term from February 15, 1955 to February 14, 1959.

In the 39th legislative period he sat as an elected Senator of the Sublema Unión Blanca Democrática of the PN, from February 20, 1963 to January 27, 1964 and from April 1, 1964 to June 12, 1964 in the Cámara de Senadores . From June 16, 1964 to December 16, 1965, Tejera was Interior Minister of Uruguay, before he took his seat in the Senate again from December 21, 1965 to December 5, 1972.
