Adolph Wilhelm Dinesen
Adolph Wilhelm Dinesen (born December 27, 1807 in Kragerup , † July 10, 1876 in Katholm ) was a Danish officer, writer and politician.
Life
Dinesen was the son of Jens Kraft Dinesen (1768-1827) and Johanne Ulrica Birgitte Christine Dinesen, née Gøring (1774-1829). He had seven siblings and was the third oldest son. As an adult, he was mostly referred to as AW Dinesen. In 1839 he inherited the Katholm Castle . He served in the Danish artillery and made it to major there . He described his war experiences in several books. Dinesen was a Knight of the Legion of Honor .
The marriage with Dagmar Alvilda Dinesen, born von Haffner (1818–1874), had eight children, including Wilhelm Dinesen . He was the grandfather of Tania Blixen .
