Adolphe Engers
Adolphe Engers (born June 20, 1884 in Gulpen , † December 8, 1945 in The Hague ) was a Dutch actor .
Life
The son of a police officer attended a business school in Elberfeld and took acting lessons from Max Martersteig . He then returned briefly to his homeland and worked here for an insurance company.
Soon afterwards he went to Paris and began working as an extra at the theaters there, especially at the Comédie-Française . At this time he made his first film appearances in Paris. In 1912 he went back to the Netherlands, where he worked as a theater actor from 1912 to 1920. At the same time he worked as a translator, especially the works of Ferenc Molnár .
From 1920 he took on numerous roles in German silent film as a supporting actor, but he also appeared at the German Art Theater in Berlin , for example . After a tour of India he returned to the Netherlands in 1929. There he concentrated on his stage work and occasionally took on a few small film roles.
