Adolphe Peschier

Adolphe Peschier (born May 1, 1805 in Geneva ; † February 2, 1878 in Tübingen ) was a Swiss Romance philologist , Germanist and lexicographer based in Tübingen.

life and work

Charles-Jacques Peschier, called Adolphe Peschier, was the son of the pharmacist Jacques Peschier . He became associate professor at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen in 1837 and full professor for English and French literature in 1844.

Peschier also made a name for himself as the editor of the French-German, German-French dictionary of the abbé Dominique Mozin , which was known as Mozin / Peschier from 1863 and was only overtaken by the Sachs / Villatte .
