Adolpho Washington

Adolpho Washington (born September 7, 1967 in Lexington , Kentucky , USA ) is a former American professional boxer and world champion of the IBF Association .

In 1993 he faced Virgil Hill for the WBA world championship belt in the light heavyweight division and failed. In 1995 he boxed again for the WBA World Championship, this time in the cruiserweight division against Orlin Norris . Washington lost this battle just on points.

On August 31, 1996 he competed against Torsten May for the vacant IBF world title and won by unanimous decision. Already in his first title defense he lost this title to Uriah Grant by majority decision.
