Adriaan from and to Hoensbroech

Adriaan von und zu Hoensbroech (* 1589 ; † February 17, 1675 in Aachen ) from the Limburg nobility of the Hoensbroech family was baron and hereditary marshal of the Duchy of Geldern .

Life

Adriaan was the son of Ulrich von Hoensbroeck and his first wife, Johanna von Boedberg. His mother died when Adriaan was two years old. He grew up with his uncle Arnold von Boedberg, the hereditary marshal of Geldern, and his wife Odila Berghe von Trips .

After Arnold von Boedberg died childless in 1613, his brother-in-law Ulrich inherited the Haag Castle with the property and the associated office of Hereditary Marshal. He transferred the castle and office to his son Adriaan in 1618. In 1631 Adriaan succeeded his father Ulrich as Herr von Hoensbroek . In 1635 he was raised to the status of imperial baron. Adriaan was the first of the Hoensbroech family to belong to the titled nobility.

From 1640 he had his master castle Hoensbroek converted into a representative four-wing complex in the Maasland Renaissance style.

family

Adriaan was married to Anna Elisabeth van Loë - knowledge , called Isabelle. This marriage resulted in three children: first two daughters and in 1631 his successor Arnold Adriaan, after whose birth Isabelle died nine days later.
