Adrian Stähli (archaeologist)

Adrian Stähli (* 1962 ) is a Swiss classical archaeologist .

Adrian Stähli studied classical archeology, art history and philosophy at the University of Bern between 1981 and 1985 , interrupted by a stay in 1983/84 at the Free University of Berlin , where he also finished his studies from 1985 to 1992. In 1988 he completed his master’s degree in Berlin . After completing his doctorate with Adolf Borbein and Henning Wrede with a thesis on the subject of denying lust. erotic groups in ancient sculpture to Dr. phil. at the FU Berlin 1996 followed the habilitation in 2003 at the University of Zurich . In 2009 he was the holder of the Getty Villa Visiting Scholar fellowship . In 2011 he became a professor at Harvard .

Stähli's research covers almost the entire period of ancient Greco-Roman culture from the Geometric Period to the Roman Empire .
