Klaus Junker

Klaus Junker (born September 18, 1958 in Herbolzheim) is a German classical archaeologist .

Klaus Junker finished his studies in 1988 with the passed examination for the Magister Artium at the Free University of Berlin . Three years later he was there with a thesis on The Elder Temple in Heraion am Sele . Doctorate in Ornate Metopes in an Architectural Context . In 1992 he received the Ernst Reuter Prize for his dissertation. After completing his doctorate, he was a research assistant at the headquarters of the German Archaeological Institute (DAI) in Berlin , where he was responsible for looking after the archive. This activity resulted in a work on the history of the DAI between 1929 and 1945, which was based on the institute's archives. During this time he was a lecturer at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg in 1991/92 and again in 1994 . In 1994 he moved to Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz as a research assistant . The habilitation took place in 2001 with the work Sagenbild und Mythoskritik. Hermeneutic studies of Greek legends from the 6th and 5th centuries BC Chr. In Mainz . Junker is a corresponding member of the German Archaeological Institute and a member of the selection committee of the German National Academic Foundation . He is mainly concerned with Greek sculpture , architecture and vase painting , hermeneutics and the history of science .
