Adrian Steger

Adrian Steger (born March 27 or March 28, 1623 in Leipzig ; † August 19, 1700 ibid) was an Electoral Saxon lawyer and six times mayor of the city of Leipzig between 1686 and 1698 .

Career

Steger studied law at the University of Leipzig and in France and was awarded a Dr. iur. PhD. In 1651 he was elected to the City Council of Leipzig. In the period that followed, he was appointed city judge (1663), master builder (1666) and scabinus .

In 1686, 1689, 1692, 1694, 1695 and 1698 he was mayor of Leipzig. In 1690 he briefly took over the post of mayor Paul Wagner, who suffered from facial paralysis . In 1693 and 1696, Wagner and Steger held the office together.

In 1682 Steger became head of the Church of St. Thomas . Steger translated various philosophical and religious writings from French into German.
