Adriano Barlotti

Adriano Barlotti (born October 12, 1923 in Florence ; † August 11, 2008 ibid) was an Italian mathematician who studied geometry and combinatorics .

Barlotti studied at the University of Florence (Laurea with Luigi Campedelli) and then turned to finite geometry under the influence of Guido Zappa . 1963/64 he was with Raj Chandra Bose at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill . From 1968 he was professor at the University of Perugia , from 1972 at the University of Bologna and from 1982 at the University of Florence.

The classification of projective planes that is common today is named after Barlotti and Hanfried Lenz .
