Adrien Anneet (born November 15, 1908 in Brussels , † unknown) was a Belgian boxer . He was European champion in the professional welterweight boxers.

Career

Adrien Anneet took part in the 1928 Summer Olympics without much success . He then made his professional boxer debut that same year. He lost his first fight on September 16, 1928 in Wandre against his compatriot Verdieres. But he quickly developed into one of the best Belgian welterweight boxers and went on April 2, 1930 in Brussels against Gustave Roth over the full fighting time of ten rounds and was only defeated on points. In 1931 Anneet played three outstanding fights: First, on February 15, 1931, he was defeated by the French champion Edouard Tenet over ten rounds on points. In his revenge, he won a points on April 22, 1931 in Brussels. On December 16, 1931, he also defeated the Dutch champion Huib Huizenaar on points.

On October 26, 1932 Adrien Anneet fought in the Palais des Sports in Brussels against Gustave Roth for the European welterweight championship and won by disqualifying Roth in the sixth round. On January 4, 1933, he managed to defend this title in Brussels against the Italian Vittorio Venturi by winning points after 15 rounds. On May 22, 1933 Anneet lost his European Championship title in Birmingham by a disqualification defeat in the third round against the Englishman Jack Hood .

On November 8, 1933 and February 10, 1934 Adrien Anneet failed while trying to become Belgian welterweight champion. Both times he lost to Nestor Charlier after 15 rounds of fighting time on points. On December 1, 1933, he fought for the first time in Germany and suffered a point defeat from Gustav Eder in Berlin .

In 1935 Adrien Anneet achieved three notable victories. He defeated Hein Domgörgen from Cologne on January 16, 1935 in Brussels , scored a point victory over Karel Sys in his next fight on March 2, 1935 and also beat the German Jupp Besselmann on points on December 9, 1935 . Against the Greek former European welterweight champion Anton Christoforidis , however, he suffered a point defeat on March 6, 1936 in Paris.

On September 29, 1937 Adrien Anneet also succeeded in becoming Belgian middleweight champion. He defeated that day Al Baker over 15 rounds on points, to whom he had to return the title on April 2, 1940 by a point defeat. In 1940 and 1941 he also fought three times against Felix Wouters , the best Belgian middleweight at the time. He lost all three fights after ten rounds on points.

By the end of his career, Adrien Anneet tried twice to regain the Belgian championship title from Al Baker. But both times he failed because he lost on points. Anneet fought his last fight on February 18, 1946 in Rotterdam against the Dutchman Luc van Dam . He suffered a technical knockout defeat in the sixth round and then ended his career as a professional boxer.
