Adrien Baillet
Adrien Baillet (born June 13, 1649 in La Neuville-en-Hez , France , † January 21, 1706 in Paris ) was a French theologian , historian and librarian .
Life
After attending the village school , his parents were unable to finance a higher education for him. After the Bishop of Bauvais became aware of him, he made it possible for him to study theology. Baillet then worked as a teacher in Beauvais and was ordained a priest in 1676 . In 1680 he moved to Paris, where he worked as a librarian for the Advocate General of the Parlements François-Chrétien de Lamoignon , where he created a 35-volume catalog raisonné .
Baillet is considered the first biographer of René Descartes . He was buried in the Paris church of St-Paul-des-Champs .
