Adrien De Witte
Adrien de Witte de Limminghe (born August 2, 1850 in Liège ; † June 25, 1935 there ) was a Belgian painter, draftsman and etcher.
Adrien de Witte studied at the Academie royale des beaux-arts de Liège with August Chauvin and Prosper Drion.
From 1870 he shared the studio with Léon Mignon. After completing his studies, he spent the years 1872 to 1873 in Italy. From 1879 to 1884 he worked in Rome as a scholarship holder of the Lambert Darchis Foundation.
After returning to Liège, he was appointed professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in 1885. He taught there until 1921. His students included u. a. Émile Berchmans , Auguste Donnay and Armand Rassenfosse . As the successor to Évariste Carpentier, he held the post of director of the academy from 1910 to 1913.
