Aegidius Haupt, 1930

Aegidius Haupt (also Egidius , born August 23, 1861 in Bogarosch , Austrian Empire , † August 14, 1930 in Giarmata , Kingdom of Romania ) was a veterinary and Banat Swabian dialect poet.

Life

After attending elementary school in Bogarosch, Haupt was apprenticed to a blacksmith from 1874 to 1877. He completed the veterinary knowledge he acquired there from 1882 to 1884 at the Vienna Veterinary Institute and returned to the Banat as a veterinarian . Here he worked as a veterinarian in the localities of Billed , Sekeschut , Baratzhausen and from 1897 to 1928 in Sackelhausen . After his retirement he moved to his daughter at the fair , where he worked as a writer until his death.

At the age of 26, he appeared as an author of dialect poems and short stories and was a permanent contributor to the newspaper South Hungarian Reform . His works also appeared in Pester Lloyd .

In addition to his artistic activities, he was also politically active. The establishment of the local group of the German-Swabian national community in Sackelhausen goes back to his initiative.
