Aegidius Kolb

Aegidius Kolb (born August 13, 1923 in Sonthofen ; † March 13, 1993 in Ottobeuren ) was a German Benedictine (OSB) and homeland researcher.

Life

Rudolf Kolb attended schools in Gars am Inn and Dillingen an der Donau . In 1941 he was drafted into the Reich Labor Service and then into the Wehrmacht . After his release from captivity, he studied philosophy and theology at the PTH Dillingen from 1945 . In the same year he entered the Ottobeuren monastery and received the religious name Aegidius. In 1947 he continued his theological studies in Dillingen and later in Munich . Joseph Freundorfer ordained him as a priest on May 21, 1950. Afterwards he was a pastor in Ottobeuren and Lachen , looked after the monastery archive and studied history and archival science in Munich.
