The Aerion is a US company that the Aerion SBJ and Aerion AS2 developed based at Reno-Tahoe International ( ICAO code : KRNO) in Reno , Nevada .

history

The company was founded as ASSET (Affordable SuperSonic Executive Transport) Corporation in 2002 by Dr. Richard Tracy, who wanted to build a ten-seat supersonic jet himself. In 2004, the company was taken over by Texas billionaire Robert M. Bass and renamed Aerion Corporation.

The company's name goes back to Areion , a wonder horse in Greek mythology.

Products

The company is currently working on a concept for a supersonic aircraft, Aerion AS2 . Aerion Corporation estimates the market at 300 jets. The Aerion SBJ is expected to go into service in 2021.

In April 2020, the company announced that it would build the Aerion AS2 at a plant at Melbourne International Airport in Melbourne, Florida, USA , and move its headquarters there.
