Areion

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Areion ( Greek  Ἀρείων ; also Arion ) is a wonder horse from Greek mythology .

It emerged from a connection between Poseidon and Demeter . Poseidon had persecuted Demeter, who was mourning her daughter Persephone . Demeter turned into a mare and hid in a herd of King Onkios , but Poseidon turned into a stallion and so conquered her.

Arion was very quick and could speak. It belonged first to Onkios and then to Heracles . Later Arion was given to Adrastus , the king of Argos , so that he could save himself from the defeat of the Seven against Thebes .
