AeroVironment Inc. is an American technology company based in Monrovia , which is active in the fields of aviation, especially unmanned aerial vehicles , electromobility , and test services. It was founded in 1971 by aviation pioneer Paul MacCready .

AeroVironment is particularly active in niche areas of aviation. In the early years, the company attracted attention with muscle-powered aircraft, later laid the foundations for solar-powered aircraft and later established itself in the market for small unmanned aircraft. Electromobility
AeroVironment commercially develops and produces charging stations for electric vehicles. However, the company also developed solar and electrically powered test vehicles, partly in cooperation with other companies.
- Sunraycer : This solar powered car won the first race for such vehicles in Australia in 1987. The second car didn't finish until two days later.
- GM Impact : This electrically powered car was built as a prototype of a production vehicle.
