Aero Airlines was an Estonian airline based in Tallinn .

history

The airline was founded by Finnair in 2002 . Aero Airlines has gradually taken over Finnair's ATR 72 aircraft since 2002 and, in addition to the Tallinn- Helsinki route, also operated domestic Finnish routes for Finnair. Finnair promised itself from the Estonian subsidiary that it would be able to operate cheaply in the growing Baltic competition. Due to a change in strategy at Finnair, Aero Airlines was taken off the market in January 2008 and the entire fleet was sold to Russian UTair .

The establishment of an airline with the name Aero also has nostalgic features because when today's Finnair was founded in 1923, its name was Aero O / Y (OY = Finnish AG ). The name Aero was later supplemented by the term Finnair and then completely disappeared in the 1960s.
